Supporting Road Safety

roadsafety Georgian-Estonian traffic prevention project – “Promotion of reflectors in the schools and preschools of Georgia, on Estonian example” was launched in November 2014. The Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads, in cooperation with the Estonian non-governmental organization TrafficProf, and together with the Crystal Fund and the representatives of Estonian Police and road safety experts have conducted road safety interactive lessons and seminars in schools and pre-schools in 3 major cities of Georgia: Tbilisi, Rustavi, Gori. In the framework of the Project there were organized official meetings: with the first Deputy Minister of the Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia – Mr. Giorgi Amashukeli, as well as with the Director of the Tbilisi National Agency of Kindergartens – Mr. Temur Tordinava. During the official meetings Georgian and Estonian side discussed current road safety issues, project on reflectors and future cooperation possibilities. Furthermore, during the visit of Estonian Patrol Police representatives to Georgia, together with the Ambassadors of SUNflower [S-weden, U-nited Kingdom, N-etherlands] countries, the Estonian Embassy in Georgia, the United Nations Representation in Georgia, relevant Ministry representatives, partner (private and public) organizations and the Media, the Georgia Alliance for Safe Roads dedicated a high-level conference to the UN World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims. During the implementation period of the above-mentioned Project the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia – Mrs. Keit Pentus-Rosimannus paid an official visit to Georgia. During her one-day visit to Georgia Mrs. Keit Pentus-Rosimannus together with H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonian to Georgia – Mr. Priit Turk attended the road safety event in one of the preschools in Tbilisi.
